A reference management software can help you collect and save references to articles, books, and other sources. Just export the data to your personal library while conducting your research. In this way you will never lose track of the literature you have found and when you start writing up your paper you can insert in-text citations and corresponding references directly into your paper and in the style of your choice by a simple click of a mouse.
In other words, with a reference management software you can save time without compromising the quality of your referencing.
What it cannot do, however, is help you decide when and where to cite another person´s work. To learn more about academic integrity and the practicalities of referencing, check out the CBS Library guide on Plagiarism & Academic Integrity.
