This feature allows you to find comparable companies, people, key developments, fixed income, equities and transactions according to a wide selection of screening data items.
To access this feature, go to the Top Menu and click on Screening. This tool has thousands of criteria that you can use to refine the universe of the following types:
- Companies: allows you to select and apply filter options for company data. When you click on a criterion link, the category field opens at the bootom of the page with filtering options
- Equities: since a single company can have multiple equity securities, Capitals IQ has created this equity screening tool to allow you to find any security at a company that matches your criteria. This can be especially helpful when you are looking to build a portfolio based on securities with certain characteristics.
By default, Equity Screens will display columns for Ticker, Security Name, Company Name, Trading Status, and Most Recent Trade Price along with columns for any additional criteria you include in your screen.
- Transactions: Creating a transaction screen will provide a list of transactions matching your criteria. When you add a criterion that describes a company, by default, that criterion will describe the target company in the transaction, but you have the option to choose between describing the target, buyers/investors, sellers, advisors or any role (excluding advisors).
By default, columns will be displayed for Announced Date, Target/Issuer Name, Transaction Type, Transaction Status, Buyers/Investors, Sellers, Total Transaction Value, and CIQ Transaction ID along with columns for any additional criteria you include in your screen.

Key Developments: this screen can be helpful when trying to identify specific events or news that have taken place for companies. You can screen for companies by corporate actions e.g. SEC filings, bankruptcies, and more
- Fixed Income Securities: this screen provides more granularity related to bonds, credit default swaps, municipal securities, security ratings and more. When you add a criteria that describes a company, by default, that criterion will describe either the Issuer or the Ultimate Parent related to the security, but you have the option to choose between describing the Issuer, the Ultimate Parent, or either one.
By default, Fixed Income Screens will display columns for Maturity Date, CDS Term, Issuer, Fixed Income Security Type, Seniority Level, Coupon Rate (%), Coupon Type, Offering Date, Offering Amount, Amount Outstanding, CDS Mid (bps) [Latest], S&P Security Credit Rating - Long-Term LC [Latest], Ultimate Parent Name along with columns for any additional criteria you include in your screen.
- People: allows you to search for professionals based on their entire professional history, past and present.
