Libsearch will now display information about retractions of scientific papers.
How do you figure out if a scientific paper has been retracted? Previously, you needed to check the publisher website or follow Retraction Watch, a blog dedicated to monitoring retracted scientific papers.
In future, you need not look beyond Libsearch, the CBS Library discovery system, which will now display Retraction Watch data for individual records. In this way, information about retractions will be displayed as part of the search results.

If you go on to click the Retraction Watch icon, a new window will open with information about the reasons for retraction as well as links to the official retraction statement on the publisher website.
The Retraction Watch integration is powered by LibKey from Third Iron.

As some of you are probably and painfully aware, a ruling in 2020 by the European Court of Justice that made the existing framework under which data is transferred between the EU and the US null and void, meant that very popular services normally provided by CBS Library were either discontinued or their future called into serious question. This has understandably caused some concern with faculty members who are relying on the said services.
Due to the seriousness of the GDPR concerns, the services needed a hearing and approval by senior management prior to any license extension / continuation. Below you will find the outcome of this hearing:
Qualtrics: The current software license will be extended for another year, in the course of which a tender will be announced. The outcome of this tender will determine the future of Qualtrics at CBS.
Go to Qualtrics
Mendeley: Continued access has been approved. Senior management has concurrently approved the use of similar services, including EndNote etc., in such cases where individual researchers have special demands/needs.
Go to Mendeley
iThenticate: The final decision has been postponed and is now pending a business evaluation of the service.
