Every February, we take stock of activities of the previous year. Below you will find a summary of some of the things that we have been engaged in in 2019.
In 2019, we provided 21 1-2-hour courses on research-oriented topics for CBS faculty. Altogether, 214 colleagues attended these courses. Also, every year, more than 10.000 students pass through our courses, a share of which are embedded in or tailored for specific programmes, upon request.
In 2019, the interlibrary loans team procured 4.570 books and articles from other libraries for CBS users.
We are not only a research library for the CBS community but also a public library and as such provide services to the general public, i.e. through both domestic and international interlibrary loans networks. In 2019, we lent 25.809 items to non-CBS users and libraries.
The number of local users of the reference management software Mendeley currently stands at 3000. The current figures for NVivo, a qualitative analysis software, and Qualtrics, a survey tool, are 1731 and 1075 respectively.
In addition to the library facility at Solbjerg Plads, we also maintain reading rooms in Dalgas Have, Graduate House, and Porcelænshaven with a total of 704 study seats and 19 study group rooms, and an annual influx of 988.796 visitors in 2019
We provide access to more than 40.000 journals, of which only 2331 are in print and less than 200 represent active subscriptions.
2019 saw a total of 63.243 library loans, down from 92.143 (â31%) in 2015, a number that has steadily decreased over the past years. Interestingly, CBS staff stay more loyal to print media with 6.703 loans in 2019, a drop of 21% since 2015 but the same as in 2018. Circulation of print journals has also seen a rise since 2016, in this case of 83%.
We provide access to 180+ databases, all available from our website.
Behind all of these numbers you will find 33 dedicated CBS colleagues who are looking forward to servicing you in 2020 as much or preferably even more than in 2019.

Statista, a very popular database from CBS Library, aggregates statistics, in many cases via visualizations or so-called infographics, from a wide range of sources, open (IMF and the World Bank) as well as pay-walled. Statista is not particularly big on long time-series for all sectors, but it is very useful for quick orientation.
For teaching purposes, you will find that Statista visuals are both clear and concise, and each item is accompanied by information about and links to the original sources.
Original research on consumers and brands
Statista displays their own research on consumers and brands in the Consumer Insights section, which covers 55 countries and territories with up to 60,000 respondents per country or territory. Via Consumer Insights, you will gain a deeper understanding of the needs and motivations driving consumer attitudes. Whether you are exploring purchasing patterns, brand loyalty, or the impact of societal and economic factors, the Insights section offers a wealth of data and analyses.
Beyond Statista
Although most Statista content is free of charge with CBS institutional access, you may come across restricted contents at times. If this happens, please reach out to your liaison librarian who may be able to recommend alternative resources.
