About Citing Business Reports from Library Databases

Note: The citations on this page are recommendations by Copenhagen Business School Library.

CBS Library recommends the following general format for business reports using APA:

Only use this template for items in library databases that are exclusive content to the database (i.e. are not found outside the database). Databases like: MarketLine, Passport, and Statista. Otherwise consult the guidelines for The Generic Reference. If the document has no publication date use (n.d.). Often documents like these can be updated, drastically changed, or removed over time, there for you should include the retrival date in the reference.

Template

Author's last name, First initial. Second initial, if given. or Corporate Author name. (Year of Publication). Title of report:Subtitle if any. (Document number if available). [Type of document]. Retrieved Date from url of document

NOTE:

  • Data is not always fully available
  • Use as much data as the source presents
  • If you can’t link to specific document link to the main page of the database. You may use a URL shortener like tinyurl (https://tinyurl.com) or bit.ly (https://bitly.com) if you wish
  • Information about author is often at the end of the document

Below you will find examples from a selection of databases available from CBS Library.

Using Mendeley? (or another reference management tool)

This kind of texts is not handled well in a tool like Mendeley and is therefore recommended to do manually.

What is Mendeley?
