The batch search functionality allows you to specify a list of companies and then to run a search based on each of the specified company names. This is a way for you to upload a previously made list of company names, in one step rather than having to run individual searches. The list of companies to select can be specified in two ways:
In both cases, each line must correspond to one company. The batch search module will then search, for companies matching the name in the Orbis database.
Create a batch file:
You can use any convenient application to create a list of up to 1,000 company names. Including the corresponding country codes can help improve the accuracy of the search. Suitable formats have the suffix .bvd, .csv, .xls, .xslx or .txt.
To Upload:
Go to Tools > Batch search and either click the Choose file button and select the file you wish to upload, or drag-and-drop.
The batch search is run and a list of potential matches between the source file and a record in the Orbis database is displayed. Each potential match is assigned a confidence score from A to E on the right, and if any matches can be made automatically with a score of A, those matches will be selected by default.
Change results:
Change an automatic match or select a result if no automatic matches were made. Click to expand a row in the results and select your preferred match from the Orbis company records.
When a row is expanded, edit any of the input details and click Search again to see if your results are better.
View result list:
You can click View results in the upper right of the Batch search page to see the matched companies.
