Good news for anybody using Ordbogen.com for quick lookups and to check their language! Ordbogen.com has launched a Chrome extension and upgraded the desktop version.
As CBS faculty, you have access to a whole suite of dictionaries from Ordbogen.com: multiple languages, professional, grammar, etc. You can use Ordbogen.com online via the library website, as an app on your smartphone, and now also as an extension in your Chrome browser.

Chrome extension - dictionary directly in your browser
Ordbogen.com comes with a Chrome extension that, once added to your Chrome browser, appears as a small icon at the top of the Chrome menu.
Simply click the icon, type in a word, and Ordbogen.com will launch. In this way, you do not need to go through the library website for access.
With the browser extension installed, you can look up words directly from an online document. Simply right-clicking on a word and select 'look up [word] in ordbogen.com', to open the service.

Download the extension for your Chrome browser

New desktop version
The new Ordbogen.com is both enjoyable and easy to use. If you have previously downloaded version 3 or 4 and want to continue using the service, you need to update the plugin. The most recent desktop version is called Ordbogprogrammet 5. Make sure to delete any previous version If relevant.

Download the new desktop version

Ordbogen.com on you smartphone
Ordbogen.com is also available as an app for smartphones. With it, you can access dictionaries wherever you are.

It just got easier to look up accounting terminology. So if you are wondering what organic growth means in an accounting context or how best to translate revenue into Danish, you will find the answers in the Accounting Dictionaries (Regnskabsordbøgerne) that CBS Library just procured.

The dictionaries provide definitions and translations of Danish and English accounting, auditing, and financial management terminology, and each of them comprises more than 6.000 words and 25.000 collocations and examples.

You have the choice of four dictionaries:

Regnskab Dansk (Accounting Danish)

Regnskab Dansk-Engelsk (Accounting Danish-English)

Regnskab Engelsk (Accounting English)

Regnskab Engelsk- Dansk (Accounting English-Danish)

Ordbogen.com, which provides the service, has a whole range of other dictionaries. However, CBS students and staff have access to the Accounting Dictionaries only.
If you need other dictionaries, please use Gyldendals Ordbøger instead.

Easy access

Download the Accounting Dictionaries for smartphone, tablet or laptop/desktop to keep them handy. Simply Follow the instructions and select "Enkeltbruger" (single user when prompted).

How do you spell yndlingskaffe’ (favorite coffee)? With g or d? Is ´ressourcespild´ (waste of resources) spelled with double-s or not?

Find out quickly and easily through the app Retskrivningsordbogen PLUS aka RO+, the official dictionary of Danish spelling. Download it to your smartphone or tablet, both Apple and Android, and use it both on-and offline.

The Danish Language Council continuously updates RO+ with new words.

On top of providing information about the spelling and conjugation of a word, the app also offers a deep-dive into various aspects of Danish grammar.

Download RO+ from App Store

Download RO+ from Google Play

For more information about search features and filters, please check out the RO+ guide (in Danish only)
