Open Datastream in Excel: 

If you have followed the instructions in How to access Datastream, you have now access to the Datastream Excel add-in

 

  • Series Requests - There are the following two primary ways
    o download Datastream data into Excel:
    • Static Request: request data for a specific date
    • Time Series Request: to request data over a specific
      period, defined by a start date, end date,
      and frequency of data
  • Manage Request: use your Request Manager to manage your embedded requests. All the chart and data requests in our Excel work book are listed with their details. You can edit, delete, or refresh the request.
  • New Request Table: open a new Request Table to help you to create, manage and update spreadsheets with multiple Datastream requests
  • Sample Sheets: access to a library of spread sheets
  • Conversion Wizard: upgrade spreadsheets with old DSDDE linkks, embedded requests or earlier version request tables to the latest version
  • Find Series: find the data series or data types you require (Data Category)
  • UCI Manager: create your own index or download index template
  • Expression Builder: open a new combined Request Table and User Created Times Series workbook
  • Create lists from range: create a list from series in your spreadsheet (SEDOL or ISIN codes in a range of cells) or edit a list
  • List wizard: create local lists using series from Navigator or Datastream lists or edit your lists
  • New UCTS and RT Sheet: open a new User Created Time Series and Request Table combined sheet to upload your own series to commingle with Datastream series

 

 

Search Request - How to search in Datastream

A complete search request encompasses several steps:

1.Select the appropriate type of request: is the required data of static nature or available as time series only
2.Choose series: choosing the underlying entity
3.Choose datatype: defining what data are needed
4.Modify the output: time period and frequency, visual appearance of the output, and more
