Datastream: How to access Datastream

Where to access Datastream (only campus access from the library)

As a CBS student you have access to Datastream in CBS Library Data Lab, which is part of LRC - Learning Resource Center (the computer lab in the library).
You find Library Data Lab at first floor in the library at Solbjerg Plads
You can access Datastream on eight of the Library Data Lab computers
 

A. How to access Eikon and Datastream:

Datastream is now part of the financial database Eikon. So you access Datastream through Eikon.
First you have to acces Eikon.

(NB! Be patient - the login procedure can take some time)

1. login the computer using your personal CBS username and password
    
2. on the desktop (Desktop 1) you will find an Eikon-Datastream icon:
   
   
    
3. If the connection to the Eikon database is busy, you will see this message on the screen:
   
    
4. Click on the Eikon-Datastream icon and a new desktop (screen image) will open.
   Click Allow to permit access to your removable and local files
   
   
    
5. Top bar in the new desktop (Desktop 2):
   
    
6. On the new desktop (desktop 2), you now have access to the following two Eikon icons: 
   
   Thomson Reuters Eikon - Microsoft Excel: access to Eikon and Datastream add-ins in Excel
     
   
   Thomson Reuters Eikon - Access to the financial database Eikon
   ​
           
7.  Click Thomson Reuters Eikon - you have now access to Eikon: 
               
    
8.  To close Eikon:
   Step 1: Go to the Eikon icon in the top left corner of the screen
   Step 2: Click on the arrow and next to Close, and
   Step 3: Choose the Shut down option     
   
                              

B. How to access Datastream Excel add-in:

On the desktop you now have access to two Thomson Reuters Eikon icons.

1. As already mentioned this one gives acces to the Eikon database:

2. If you click on the other Thomson Reuters Eikon icon you open Excel:

3. In Excel choose the Thomson Reuters add-in and Sign In. The add-in now opens

4. Now open the Datastream Excel add-in and you have access to Datastream:

Datastream is ready to use:

5. To close the Thomson Reuters (Eikon) and the Thomson Reuters Datastream Excel add-ins:
    Step 1: Click on the Thomson Reuters tab within Excel
    Step 2: Click on the arrow next to Online
    Step 3: Choose the Sign Out option, then exit the session.
