Good empirical research requires good data – and good research data should be carefully managed, in order to be accessible and usable in the future. A data management plan (DMP) helps you plan how to organise, document, back up, and securely store your data in a structured way.
DMPs are actually required by more and more research funders as obligatory project deliverables, and they are useful for all research projects, large or small. So, consider including a DMP to detail the lifecycle of your research data, when devising the strategy for your next research project.

DMPonline is a web tool that assists researchers in producing effective data management plans. It was originally developed by the UK-based Digital Curation Centre in close collaboration with research funders and universities. A Danish version has been available since 2015 and continues to be developed and improved.

You sign into DMPonline with your CBS credentials.

After signing in you can begin creating your DMP. Initially, you are asked three questions to determine which template to display. NB: You should also select to include the guidance texts – they will help you answer the template questions.

DMPonline allows you to edit collaboratively the project DMP. You can share the DMP with your collaborators, assign different access rights, and work on it as a team.

Once the DMP is finalised, you can export it in different formats (csv, html, xml, docx, pdf etc.) and include it with the rest of the research project documentation.

For any questions regarding DMPonline please contact the CBS Research Data Management Support.

Open Access is the guarantor that publicly funded research, including their findings, is made available to not only the general public but also to organizations and private companies. What is more, many studies show that Open Access generates more citations and downloads for individual research articles.

Below you will find four examples of CBS articles published in Open Access journals in late 2017/early 2018:

Visit CBSshare for more information on Open Access or contact Lene Hald or Claus Rosenkrantz Hansen.

Did you know that one of the most widely used databases at CBS is Gyldendal´s Dictionaries? Now you can download a new desktop version of the software to gain constant access to the dictionary on your local computer.

The DesktopOrdbogen is a small application that you install on your computer. The Desktop dictionary is free of charge for both students and staff. Download DesktopOrdbog to your computer.

You can use the Desktop version exactly the same way as the online version that is, to look up words, find translations and grammatical applications, identify phrases and idioms, and even hear the correct pronunciation of the word.

Hint: Go to settings to decide where you want the dictionary to appear and if you want it to open, when you start your computer. The Desktop version will look like this once downloaded:

What are the available dictionaries?
You have access to online editions of Gyldendal´s Røde Ordbøger, Gyldendal´s Store Ordbøger, Økonomisk Ordbog, and various specialized dictionaries (law and medicine) as well as a dictionary of technical terms containing some 400 000 terms.

If you prefer full screen, try out the online version.

It has been a long time coming, but now the new and improved NVivo 12 is finally here.

Especially for the Mac people, this is good news, as the new upgrade has vastly improved in terms of key functionality, such as the processing and visualisation of data.

The idiosyncratic NVivo terminology has changed too, to better reflect common usage also outside the software and in that way improve navigation.

To get started with NVivo 12, simply send an e-mail from you CBS e-mail account to nvivo@cbs.dk with the subject: nvivo license request.

Please direct all queries to Joshua Kragh Bruhn or Liselotte Brandstrup
