Elsevier and Open Access publishing
A new Elsevier agreement came into force in the beginning of 2025, and is valid until 31 December 2028. To CBS researchers, the agreement means that you can publish articles as Open Access at no cost in a number of Elsevier’s journals.
According to the agreement, the final version of an article can be published as Open Access under a Creative Commons license if it fulfills the agreement conditions. The publication costs are covered by the consortium agreement.
Agreement conditions
To publish Open Access at no cost, the following conditions need to be fulfilled:
What to do as a researcher?
When your article is accepted for publication, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the “post-acceptance author journey”. To make sure that your article is published as Open Access at no cost, you need to fill out the form in the following way:
Please use your CBS e-mail address in the process.
For more information, or if you prefer video instructions, you can watch Elsevier’s instruction video with the title: “Gold Open Access: Central Funding Agreement”.
Which journals are part of the agreement?
The agreement includes most subscription-based journals. If you want to know if a specific journal is included in the agreement, you can look it up here.
Open Access journals (journals that are not subscription-based, and where all articles are published as Open Access) are not part of the agreement. If you publish in one of these journals, you will need to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC). You can see a list of Elsevier’s Open Access journals here.
